Hello everybody !


For today i decided to fix the giant fonts in gtk2 - things like thunderbird , firefox, and so on ..




So i tried everything, from changing system fonts in /etc/fonts/fonts.conf to apt-getting "gtk-theme-switch2", to simply removing the whole gtk-stuff with a windows-like-DAU-command : sudo apt-get remove gtk* - and reinstalling after i took a look on what i had done.

After 2 hours i decided to search for a reason why the hickhack, the gtk-settings-tool doesn't save a thing what i want.

So .. K-Menu - > GTK - Styles and Fonts -> Font Size to 7

But where no to save ? There was no button for it. Nerved as i was i hacked in the keyboard and hit the return-key ..

Now what do you think happend ? YEA ! The whole fonts were saved !

Twoday nothing happend .. for now.

The bold Fonts in Firefox and Thunderbird are cancer in my eyes, but i will survive it.

Prolog:

A few weeks ago my girlfriend decided to buy a new notebook, because here old one had broken all way long.

So we ordered a new Dell XPS M1330 (the big sister of my own XPS M1210). After that was done, i had two weeks to show here how absolutely cool and geeky and freaky Ubuntu is, and how rotten and evil Micropoop's Windows are.
About one week later she was Ubuntu-infected.


Infection:

" Ring , Ring " - it bells on the door, and a gently guy from UPS, gives here here new notebook and the curse followed ...

As far as i can remember, i never had a computer that really did what i want. There was always something i had to fix (Maybe thats the reason for why i am studying informatics ?).

... The plague named "Vista" was on disk, and we had to remove it - no problem, but where are the drivers ? Evil laughing i showed here another time how cool Ubuntu is because it works out of the box and ... yea.


Infection's outbreak:

We configured Ubuntu 7.10 compiz, and added the kiba-dock. Now she had a really cool Notebook , no ? Ten Minutes after that asked me for adding a Folder - no Problem, and mounting a Disk. I set the HD to automount during boot, and let here do here things.

After ten minutes the next thing .. the HD did not mount correctly ..

Ten minutes later the third thing came up because of emerald , the window decorater from compiz.

At this point i began to argue against blaming Ubuntu and so on. But in fact Gnome is nazi-shit (as Linus Torwalds sad), an KDE a child in puberty with acne.

At the end she's able to work with here XPS now, or should i say: for now !?
